You gotta question the motives of celebrities like Kakie Pangilinan. On the day when no less than the elected leader of all Filipinos addresses his people, she and a bunch of starlets organise a concert to distract people from this important address…
Kakie Pangilinan, Ebe Dancel, Iza Calzado and a host of other musicians and artists are coming together to raise their voices in a concert that will run parallel to President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 27.
According to the Rappler “report”, the concert, dubbed “Tinig ng Bayan: SONAgkaisa Concert” is “for the benefit of the De La Salle Philippines’ Project Paghilom, which supports families left behind by the victims of the war on drugs.”
Thing is, if this was a concert truly meant as a public service, why was it deliberately organised to compete with the national address of the country’s top public servant? For that matter, if this was a true fundraising event, why are all its performers known for their party affiliations.
It’s one thing to organise an “activist” event. It’s another to advertise it in this dishonest manner. It’s no surprise that Rappler, no less than God’s Gift to Philippine Journalism, is complicit in this crooked enterprise.
