The authenticity of an eight-year-old Twitter account that racked up 1.6 million followers that everyone assumed represented Filipino comedian Ethel Booba is now in question. “Confusion” reportedly “reigned on social media” after Booba, worshipped by Opposition partisans merely for being critical of the Philippine government in a funny way, “posted a screencap of said account and said, “BEWARE of this FAKE! twitter!”
Social media “thought leaders” led by the most rabid bloc within it loyal to the Aquino-Cojuangco clan (a.k.a. the Yellowtards) immediately shifted to overdrive issuing conspiracy theories about this development. Key amongst these theories, not surprisingly, is that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte had a direct hand in Booba’s about face, as this tweet claims.
(NB: We reached out to the author of the above tweet today for comment.)
Why should we trust Ethel Booba? She claimed to have voted for Duterte in 2016, then turned into a rabid critic shortly after, said nothing about the above Twitter account for eight years, published a book consistent with the content of that account, and now, out of nowhere, disavows any association with it!
An even better conspiracy theory, perhaps, is that the Yellowtards have their panties all twisted up about this and resort to blaming Duterte to distract from the fact that they had failed to keep Booba on their side toeing the Yellowtard line.
The bigger point to be made here is that, once again, the Yellowtards are left severely burnt by their own habitual latching on to “heroes” and two-bit celebrities as cornerstones of their dishonest agenda and lame political platform. Some obvious lessons are just begging to be learned.
