The recent fiasco surrounding the handling of a Senate “inquiry” into the ABS-CBN franchise renewal issue highlights the existence of many cases of dishonesty perpetrated by government officials that the Opposition are turning a blind eye to. It is notable indeed that when awareness of the vested interests of Senator Grace Poe in ABS-CBN exploded, the top “thought leaders” of the Opposition suddenly went silent.
This silence on Poe’s conflict-of-interest is coming from a group that kicks up shrill outrage fads over the most speculative whiffs of scandal involving Philippine President Rodrigo, his officials, or his supporters. Where are their screeches of outrage today?
Don’t hold your breath waiting for an answer to that question. The Yellowtard-led Opposition of today are renowned for their selective advocacies. One wonders, though, how a one-trick-pony like today’s Philippine Opposition could hope to go up against a popular incumbent with national elections just around the corner. You’d need a good leader and a strong platform for that. Sadly, they only have “vice president” Leni Robredo’s lame “leadership” and their obsolete Martial Law Crybabyism to bank on. Good luck to them.
