To Filipinos, a US visa is worth its weight in gold. That’s because Filipinos haven’t gotten over being a colony of the United States. Unfortunately, they were deprived of the privilege of being governed by the United States thanks to the pomposity of early “patriots” like the late former Commonwealth President Manuel L Quezon who proclaimed, “I would rather have a country run like hell by Filipinos than a country run like heaven by the Americans…”
Quite a prescient statement one can now see with the benefit of hindsight.
Yet the Yellowtards have found a new reason to admire “vice president” Leni Robredo — because she can travel to the land of the former colonial master. And to think the communist allies of the Yellowtards are renowned for their baffling habit of calling out their imagined “US-[insert current Philippine president’s name here] Dictatorship” decade in and decade out.
It’s no wonder the words of the Opposition never quite add up. The people and things they worship all don’t get along.
